Misson 2 The City

The kids an I attended a few Mission to the City events with Luke's around.  We also did a few of the moms events like the nursing home visit and delivering flowers to the neighboring business in the East Village.

I hope this event truly blessed the city.  We didn't participate as much as more people.  I am so thankful for so many men and women who give of their memorial day weekend to serve others. I hope it makes a big impact in the city of Des Moines.

Farmers Market

The Farmers Market is such a fun way to spend Saturday morning.  It is busy, I barely make it threw with my stroller, and the coffee is $8.00 but it is still fun to be outside, people watch, dog watch and get some good treats.

Ice Cream with the Rudes

We have all heard that great minds think a-like, right?  Well, I took my kiddos to get ice cream and about 2 minutes later Meg walks in with her 5 kids to get ice cream.  Isn't that weird.  Same Dairy Queen.  Same Time!  We took the party to the park and had a blast.  They are such dear friends.

Spring School

This spring we did a few fun field trips like a bug/insect field trip, post office field trip, living history farms tour (where Leighton threw up on the path when we were a mile walk in 85 degree weather away from the long bumpy tractor ride that took us back to the front y our car), and went to parks several times for our science unit on plant life.

Many days were spent plugging away at our curriculum at the table and on the couch.  And we worked on being hard workers.  I have never regretted any hard work I have ever done.  But I have regretted being lazy or letting my sights too low.  I hope that they learn to be hard workers and have the satisfaction of accomplishing great tasks and the joy of having more free time when you finish.

Leighton finished 2nd Grade
McCabe finished 1st Grade
and
Brooks-Man finished Kindergarten Curriculum
