Grandpa Hukee's Brown Chair

My moved out of our duplex! Our belongings have moved into our first home, but Luke, Myself and the Babies moved into Luke's parents house temporarily while we fix up somethings in the foreclosed home. I think this picture sums up Leighton's feelings about living with his Grandma and Grandpa Hukee. Today we spent our first day lounging around and recovering from the move. Leighton and McCabe are rocking in Grandpa's chair. McCabe is clearly not very happy about Leighton's hand being in his face.
Leighton doesn't seem to mind McCabe's crying. In fact he is very gently and likes to go over to him with he cries. He really does try to help console him and takes an interest in his sorrows. Hopefully these boys will grow up as more than just brothers. Hopefully they will continue to bear one anothers burderns and take interest in one anothers lives.
Galatians 6:2
"Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ."

Leighton Brushing His Teeth

Leighton has been afraid of his tooth brush for months now. Finally he is starting to show interest! Thank goodness he is giving it a try. He is getting to be such a big boy and has more and more interest in doing the things that Luke and I do. He has 8 front teeth and 2.5 molars in the back.

New York Shirts

Aunt Jenna spent the summer in New York and bought these great little shirts for Leighton and McCabe. Leighton's is red with a fire truck and McCabe's shirt is blue with a yellow taxi. We love the gift. Thanks Jenna.

Army Baby

McCabe doesn't like tummy time very much, but I got a quick shot in before the tears arrived.

Non-Verbal Communication!

Can you believe that these pictures were taken just seconds apart from one another?

It is amazing to see the emotions of an almost 18 month old baby. He is great at communicating how he is feeling even though he doesn't say a lot of words. It reminded me about how important it is that I keep control of my responses to people and honor the Lord with my non-verbal communciation. My facial expressions alone speak quiet loudy. Thanks for the lesson little Leighton!

LEIGHTOR the Wrestler

Luke and Leighton have been doing quite a bit of wrestling. Luke has even given Leighton a wrestling name ... LEIGHTOR! Luke throws him around and pins him and Leighton fights back by pushing on, and trying to climb on top of, Luke's head. Leighton loves every minute of it, even laughing while getting pinned. He doesn't understand that he lost, but he does understand that being around his dad is very special and enjoyable ... and I would agree!!!

McCabe's 2 Month Check Up

McCabe had his doctors visit today for his 2 month check up. He was a heathy 12 pounds 11 ounces (67%) and 24 inches (80%). He is growing and developing and we love every single milestone that he accomplishes. Praise the Lord for healthy doctors appointments. I don't want to take a single one for granted.

Luke & McCabe

I am not sure if McCabe liked vacation quite as much as the rest of us. Maybe it is because he had to sleep in his stroller at night. Or maybe it is because we didn't bring his swing.

We sure enjoyed him, even if he didn't enjoy the trip!

One-on-One Time: Luke & Leighton

Luke and I hope to have a family vacation every summer to spend some time relaxing, enjoying one another, and spening one on one time with each kid. We think it is so important to have some one-on-one time with our kids to check in, make them feel special and to get to know them know them better. We hope this happens more regularily than just once a year on vacation, but we thought it would be a good thing to work into vacation especially.

Josh McDowell has visited our church a couple of times now and we are very challenged by his emphasis on relationships. He says relationships transform us. Luke and I hope these one-on-one times will breed trust, love, encouragment, self-confidence, and since of belonging in our family. Luke and I take great pride in our family and hope that our kids know how much we love them & how much the Lord loves them.

Obviously Leighton and McCabe are very young still, but you see Leighton and Luke above going on a walk together to enjoy some one-on-one time. I think it was good for both of them. McCabe and I took some pictures from 3 stories up because it was so great.

Leighton is getting so fast and is very adventursome. When we aren't carrying him, he hits the groud running with a goal of discovering everything. I think Luke had some trouble keeping up with him on their walk. I wonder how much they even stayed on the path!

Daddy & Leighton Time

One of my favorite parts of vacation was getting to watch how much fun Leighton had with Luke. I think that no matter how much grace God gives me to be a mother, there is something built into kids to need their dad too and I am so thankful for all the time they got to spend bonding on Vacation.

Oh So Cuddly

Leighton and McCabe love to Cuddle and Leighton is a master at giving him kisses. Luke and I try so hard to get him to kiss us, but when it comes to McCabe, he is quick to show Love.

Here is Leighton's way of saying "Shhhhh McCabe, don't cry!"

More Kisses!!!

Leighton Reading to McCabe

Whenever I put McCave on the recliner, Leighton stops what he is doing and climbs up on the chair with him. Today was especially cute because both were in their diapers and because Leighton went and got a book so he could read to McCabe.

McCabe SMILES!

McCabe smiled for the first time today!
