Happy Birthday Baby Leighton Duke

March 21st, 2008. At 8 am my water broke, but wasn't sure that is what had happened, so I went to work from 8-Noon. I called the Dr and ended up going into the hospital with Luke at about 1. I was induced at 2:00, and the heavy contractions began immediately. At 7:40 I began pushing and at 8:05, Little Baby Leighton was born. He was 7 pounds 4 ounces and was 20 inches long. A Perfect Baby Boy!

Baby Shower

After getting the first scheduled shower canceled, my mom and dad drove down to my shower the following weekend. They were here and snowed-in in mid-February when the shower was supposed to be, then the following Sunday they came for the rescheduled shower and then the next weekend they were here for Josh McDowell making it three consecutive weeks! We think you should just move here!

Sympathy Suit

Luke had to try on a sympathy suit at birthing class. He said that it made him have to pee!

The Secret's Out

Mom and Dad Ludemann came down to Des Moines to see our Duplex. They brought my Grandma too! We had an enjoyable dinner at our house with the Ludemann's (minus Amber who was sadly in Maryland and not with us) and the Hukee's. What was scheduled to be a celebration of our first dinner all together in our new place turned into a celebration of me being pregnant. We ate the top of our wedding cake (which you are supposed to save until the first year anniversary) and it was so delicious. I know all of you were excited (at least you were after the shock!) but I will never forget how excited you were Dad. You jumped out of your seat and put your arms around Luke and I, putting your head between ours and giving me a kiss on the cheek. Thanks for your excitment! Although I have no pitures to show for this event, it was incredible and worth sharing. And so the trip ended with Grand-parents becoming future great grand parents, parants becoming future grandparents, and Luke and I were two of a kind, workin' on our our full house.
