Minnesota Vacation Part 2: THE CABIN

Leg 2 of the vacation was spent in a 4 bedroom cabin in Alexandria, Minnesota!  My sister, her husband Brendan, and her kids Hayden and Abby were there with us, as were our parents.  It is so much fun to enjoy meals together, wake up together, go to bed together, lounge together, walk together,   play at the park together and do so many other fun things.  Ill try to highlight some of the things we did as the pictures flow ...

THE BEACH
This was the beach.  It was small, but since we were the only ones there it was all we needed!  The kids built a sandcastle city with a mote around it!

THE POOL
The resort also had a pool.  Actually it had an indoor pool, an outdoor pool, and an indoor water park so rain or shine, we kept busy in the pool.

THE WATERPARK
The water park was very fun.  They had 2 slides that all the boys could ride.  They had a huge slide that you rode on an inter-tube which Leighton got to go down several times. They had little fountains that entertained Wynnlee.  They had a lazy river for all of us to enjoy, though a lazy river isn't really a lazy river when you have 3 kids who can't swim with you.  I would also add that my kind of lazy would be outdoors with the sun shining and NO waterfalls to get you wet.

FISHING AT THE LAKE
The boys also got to fish twice.  They didn't even have a nibble.  However they both learned to cast very well and can now do it completely on their own. They were delighted to see tons of frogs on vacation and even caught a few!

LOUNGING IN THE CABIN
We did a lot of lounging, coloring, wrestling, (can that be in the section titled lounging?) and even watched the movie Ratatouille.  I love the picture of McCabe and I.  He laid with me for probably 20 minutes talking about his day! Luke got to play several rounds of cribbage with my dad. Luke and I got to do nerdy things together like read a little extra and watch the news after the kids went to bed.  I must add here that my awesome dad, went in to town and bought me a caribou latte every morning.  Boy did that make for some wonderful quite times.  It can't get much better than being the only one awake, looking at the view of a lake, and getting to read my bible and drink my caribou!

THE PLAYGROUND
My kids LOVE playgrounds.  I don't know if they will ever get sick of them!  This playground came complete with a field so we could play soccer and throw baseballs, and play tag!  We visited this park serveral times!

THE BONFIRE
I debated about whether to call this section, "The Bonfire," or "S'mores." It was a touch decision.  We all know the real reason why we had the bonfire was to eat S'mores.  These were not just S'mores, they were the Brendan Miller Special complete with cinnamon graham crackers and half a bar of dark chocolate.  Delicious.  The kids also played the game bags, which had no rules and no score but lots of fun!

BOATING
We tried our luck fishing on a boat and had more success.  We caught a handful.  However thats about how small they were, a handful.

GOLFING
I am starting to realize why vacation was so tiring.  We sure did a lot of outdoor activities.  My dad took the son-in-laws golfing 3 times.  And our family went twice as well.

WYNNLEE
This section is titled Wynnlee.  Just because!

YUMMY
Of course vacation isn't vacation without ice cream. More than once.  Although we didn't catch any fish at the cabin, Brendan has just met us Minnesota from his family fishing trip to Idaho where he caught several large and delicious trout that he graciously allowed us to bake and eat. Yummy.

THE PEOPLE
Of course the best of vacation was spending time with family.  Here is a picture of all the cousins: McCabe, Brooks, Abby Miller, Hayden Miller, Leighton, and Wynnlee.

And then we were off to leg 3 of the trip: The Fargo, North Dakota wedding of my cousin, Josh.

Minnesota Vacation Part 1: MY PARENTS HOUSE

The first leg of our vacation was a quick 15 hours at my parents house.  We snuck in dinner, a boat ride, a hotel stay to sleep, a grocery run, and a coffee stop before getting on the road to caravan with my parents and my sister's family to a cabin/resort in Alexandria Minnesota.

Brooks

Brooks is so much fun!  Brooks knows how to calming and efficiently pump his legs while swinging, but why would he pump them calmly and efficiently, when you can be wild like this?  Life is so wonderful with his boy in it!

Leighton at the RODEO

Leighton got to go with daddy to his first rodeo.  The only regret was that since we are moving in a month, I had already packed away his cowboy boots!  It sounded like so much fun, I think we will all have to go next year!

Pool

The kids loved spending the day at the pool.  Luke and I loved spending the day with the kids at the pool.
This is my  favorite pictures from the day.  All 4 boys!

Leighton was so brave in the water.  He practiced holding his breath.  He went totally underwater many times. I loved how excited he was to learn, accomplish, and have that since of thrill.  He was so happy.
