Brooks is FOUR!

Brooks has been following in his older brothers footsteps for so long that he seems so much older to me.  He potty trained right when he turned two, was the youngest to ride a bike without training wheels, stopped napping a whole year before his brother ever did, can completely dress himself (unless he needs help matching and buttoning on church day or when he simply likes to be lazy and pretends that he cannot do it) and has been begging to do school like his brothers for a year. It was weird saying that he was turning 4 because I honestly felt like he should be turning 5 or maybe even 6 by now!  During his birthday we kept talking about how he was turning 4 and I kept seeing the 4 on his candle and every time I would second guess and think, "Is that right?  Is he really only 4?"

But how exciting that he is only 4 because time goes by quickly enough and I want to enjoy more years of him being a little guy!

We love Brooks so much!

Some things that stand out to me about him are:
1.  He loves hats and wears them often
2.  He prefers to snack all day instead of eat meals at meal time (but he will eventually learn the momma is boss)
3.  He is rarely serious about anything.  Always joking.  Always trying to get a laugh.  Always searching for a "reaction."
4.  He is a great wrestler.
5.  His drink of choice is Kombucha and he guzzles it down.
6.  He is usually the first child awake.
7.  He takes apart his sandwiches and eats one type of food at a time.
8.  He is cuddly.
9.  He will do anything for daddy's attention, which causes lots of trouble!
10.  He loves to color!
11.  He asked for Legos for birthdays and christmas but once they are built he either never plays with them, or plays with them for 3 minutes during which he manages to destroy the whole thing that took an hour to build.

My early predictions are that he will want to be a contractor since he copy's a lot of the stuff he sees down in our house.  He was once caught up at night "cocking" cracks in the door with toothpaste.  He was once caught "mudding" the brand new drywall with a hammer and screwdriver which obviously broke the new drywall.  And he loves to use dry, paint-less paint brushes to paint stuff.  And oh the joy in his face when our contractor let him take the spacers out of the cracks between the tile after the tile was set!

Now on to the pictures ...

Chilly Soccer Day

The boys played their games at the same time this week.  As I ran from field to field trying to watch both of them, I felt like I actually got to see neither game.  But I did manage to capture both boys scoring their only goals of the day!  The pictures of Leighton are hard to see but he was fast and my fingers were too cold to zoom!

And here is McCabe, on his break away!

Center Grove Orchard

Unfortunately they didn't have any pumpkins picked yet and they weren't letting the general public pick apples yet since it was so early in the season.  But, fortunately it was a warm day and we still have loads of fun.

I don't know how many words you are supposed to type for your blog to qualify as a blog, but Im fairly certain I don't meet the threshold.  About all I have time for is getting these pictures up here in some sort of organized fashion within a reasonable time the event happened.

Enjoy this wild bunch ...
