We went to North Carolina for two weeks this year! That was a great decision.
They say when you have kids to call it a "trip" and not a "vacation" because it is lots of work. It also gets so busy when you are trying to see lots of sights in just one week. This year felt truly relaxing. We didn't feel rushed. We had several days where the only outing was to get a coffee. And 4 of my 5 kids are old enough to swim without Luke or I being in it with them. That was exciting because it was a cold first week. The kids went swimming every day even though the temperatures were in the 50s and 60s. My dad heated the pool. Luke and I drank coffee in windbreakers (Luke's coat was actually a winter coat, but he will try to tell you differently)! It also helps that my boys can completely get themselves ready for the beach or pool and bathe, put suits in the dryer and change afterwards. I feel totally recharged from this vacation. I personally may have over dosed on time spent in the hot tub but I enjoyed every minute of vacation. Plus with cooler temperatures, we were inside a little more and did a few large puzzles. Who doesn't love that? Top it all off with excellent food for every meal and I'm wishing we were back there.
