This year soccer included all 3 boys! Leighton and McCabe played on a team coached by our very own Luke Hukee. Brooks had a fantastic rookie season under the coaching of college soccer player and co-pastor of Luke, Jess Richey.
Brooks was an excellent listener and gave his best effort every play, which almost singly handedly is a skill that sets you apart in this young ago. With the backyard experience he brought from hours of playing his bigger bother, Brooks was a force to be reckoned with. He scored in all the games but one. He scored near double digits one game. He was a humble kid about it too. Well, until Grandma bought him a shirt that said "Scoring Machine!" It was so fun to watch him suit up and play.
McCabe played in his 3rd season. Out natural defender hand some incredible stops this seasons. But he also ventured past half field and scored several times too. He is quick and his skills have improved tremendously. What a great attitude too. He hated when anyone would get hurt no matter what team. And he would politely tell the referees who was pushing other kids. So Sweet.
Leighton, also in his 3rd season has a great time. He had a great year. Something that stand out to me was how much he was a team player this year. He passed the ball a lot. And they were good passes at that. I think he started to realize the dynamics of teamwork. He certainly scored his fair share of goals too and was quite the cheerer afterwards. He is so excited about all of it. He was also an intent watcher of Brooks' game, taking it all in.
