McCabe's First Steps

I forgot to report on McCabe's birthday post that he took his first steps. He took 2 steps. It was great that all the family got to see it!

Since his first birthday, he has taken 2 more steps two different times, one with much encouragement and prompting and one totally on his own. Oh Boy was he proud when he did it on his own initiative!

I can't wait till he is walking around! Hopefully he is champion at it soon so that I don't have to smash poor baby 3 by carrying McCabe so much! Perhaps this is why I have carried my babies low ... more room to hold the current little one ... or maybe the current little on pushes my tummy down!

Yeah for McCabe!

We look several laps around the pool/pond area. The boys were great and Luke and I got to have some wonderful conversation.

One-on-One Time: Luke & Leighton

Luke and I hope to have a family vacation every summer to spend some time relaxing, enjoying one another, and spening one on one time with each kid. We think it is so important to have some one-on-one time with our kids to check in, make them feel special and to get to know them know them better. We hope this happens more regularily than just once a year on vacation, but we thought it would be a good thing to work into vacation especially.

Josh McDowell has visited our church a couple of times now and we are very challenged by his emphasis on relationships. He says relationships transform us. Luke and I hope these one-on-one times will breed trust, love, encouragment, self-confidence, and since of belonging in our family. Luke and I take great pride in our family and hope that our kids know how much we love them & how much the Lord loves them.

Obviously Leighton and McCabe are very young still, but you see Leighton and Luke above going on a walk together to enjoy some one-on-one time. I think it was good for both of them. McCabe and I took some pictures from 3 stories up because it was so great.

Leighton is getting so fast and is very adventursome. When we aren't carrying him, he hits the groud running with a goal of discovering everything. I think Luke had some trouble keeping up with him on their walk. I wonder how much they even stayed on the path!

Four Steps

Tonight after church we had a girls valentine's day party. Leighton took 4 steps in a row. He had such a look of concentration. I am so proud of him and praise the Lord for every tiny but miraculous thing that he accomplishes in Leighton's life.

The fact that he was born, everything works properly, that he smiles, fights colds, grows, and is able to crawl and now start walking is incredible. This is nothing less than proof that God is the creator of all things and was responsible for knitting him together before birth and working in and protecting his life now. God is so amazing and intelligent to have created such a boy as Leighton.

Leighton Walking Along the Couch

Leighton is getting more and more brave. It is amazing how much he learns each day. He is walking along the couches and coffee table and he knows how to get down on his own. It is fun to watch him learn, but hard to watch him fall and cry.
